...or how to dance your way through life
If I learnt one thing in Cuba or particularly in countries where music is a big part of life, then it's about dancing. In our cultures we tend to use our head in everything we do. Which is for sure not wrong and can also bring many advantages too. I am sure thinking has brought as far and makes a lot of things perfectly functioning.
But there are certain things in life we should rather do with our heart. One of it is dancing.
Your body, your mind, your soul fall into a harmony in dancing. Dancing is one of the most spiritual things there is. Osho
If you involve all your energy, all your movement and all your body, you will see that the dance happens automatically. It's nothing that you have to think about. How could you - the rhythms and beats of the music will change within seconds.
Yes, you stand and move on your feet. But your feet are just an extension of what your heart feels that by mischance doesn't have his own feet to express it's joy when hearing some music. And if you involve your head, it will just interrupt your hearts signal.
So don't think...
don't think how your move looks,
don't think how your body moves,
don't think who is watching you,
don't think what others think,
don't think if there is a right or wrong,
don't block yourself by worrying and panicing,
just listen, feel and go with the flow
There is no universal Movement, there is no right or wrong. Far from it! You are unique and so are your dance moves.
Just feel; close your eyes and listen to the music, listen deep inside you and how your body wants to express what it feels. And then let the movement come from deep inside you, you will feel the music so differently, you will not care about the people around you. It's just you and the music and how your body moves to it.
And in nowadays world, where everything has to be perfect - how about a dance as imperfect as it could be?
Expressing movements from deep inside means to also let out everything dark that is there. Dancing has also space for sadness, anger or grief - just let it out, let it be seen and give it a voice through your body.
And now go out there and dance your way through life!
